Nepal sends highest number of students to India, says AISHE report; Karnataka tops host states

The AISHE report 2026 shows Nepal sent the most students to India during the 2023-24 academic year. Total foreign student enrollment reached 58,134 across 173 countries. Karnataka got the most students, hosting 7,914 people. Many students chose undergraduate Arts courses, showing a steady rise in interest toward Indian higher education.
