Nepal floods: The Himalaya are not a blank canvas for grand infrastructure

A catastrophic flash flood on August 26 erased major infrastructure and homes across Nepal, claiming over 900 lives. The surge destroyed the Gyirong port complex and many hydropower plants. Experts said, "This disaster forces us to question current approaches to development," as rising temperatures continue to destabilise the fragile Himalayan ecology.
