Deaths in India remain above pre-Covid rate, fertility rate below replacement: SRS report

India's death rate is still higher than before Covid, and the number of children a woman has is below what's needed for a steady population. The latest report showed the birth rate dropped slightly to 18.3. It also said, "the number of deaths per thousand population... remained flat."
