CBSE-affiliated schools must screen a 30-minute sensitisation module for Children with Special Needs today, October 7, 2026. This mandatory session aims to build empathy among all teaching and non-teaching staff. Schools can access the video through the PRASHAST portal. The board said this initiative helps create a more supportive environment.

The initiative is intended to strengthen awareness among school personnel about the needs and challenges of children with special needs and encourage greater sensitivity, empathy and inclusive practices in schools.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked all its affiliated schools to conduct the screening of a 30-minute sensitisation and orientation module on Inclusive Education for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) today, October 7, 2026. The initiative is intended to strengthen awareness among school personnel about the needs and challenges of children with special needs and encourage greater sensitivity, empathy and inclusive practices in schools. The directive was issued by the CBSE Training Unit through Circular No. TRG-20/2026 dated October 5, 2026, following directions from the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education.

The video module has been designed to help members of the school community develop a better understanding of the experiences, requirements and challenges faced by Children with Special Needs. The screening is mandatory for participation by both teaching and non-teaching staff of CBSE-affiliated schools. The target group includes teachers and school heads, as well as aayahs, drivers, clerical employees, receptionists, deans, wardens and other support personnel.

Schools can access the video through the PRASHAST Portal, with the module available under the Video Tutorial section through the Headmaster Login. The official portal for accessing the programme is prashast.education.gov.in. School authorities have been advised to use the designated login facility to access and screen the module for the concerned staff members.

The programme is connected with the PRASHAST Screening Initiative being undertaken during the current academic year. The initiative focuses on identifying students who may have probable disabilities and facilitating timely intervention. CBSE has highlighted staff awareness as an important element of this process, as understanding the needs and requirements of Children with Special Needs can help school personnel respond more appropriately and contribute towards an environment that is accessible and supportive.

CBSE has also stated that information regarding the number of schools that view the module will be visible at the national level. This monitoring mechanism will provide an overview of participation by affiliated schools in the sensitisation exercise and help track the implementation of the programme across the country.

The Board has asked all Principals and Heads of CBSE-affiliated schools to ensure maximum participation by their teaching and non-teaching staff and extend full cooperation for the effective implementation of the initiative.
