Congress Working Committee member N. Raghuveera Reddy on Monday demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and called for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to be scrapped.

Mr. Reddy alleged that protesters in Delhi on October 9 and 10 were met with a deployment of about 40,000 police personnel, cancelled trains and suspended Internet services, and said the Supreme Court had ordered services restored. He also alleged that the Chandrababu Naidu-led government had arrested Congress and INDIA bloc leaders in the State.

On BC reservations, he asked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu what the Telugu Desam Party, a partner in the NDA government, had done to deliver the promised 34% quota in local bodies, given the 50% ceiling. He said Rahul Gandhi had promised to lift the ceiling.

On El Nino, he urged the State government to seek Central assistance and prepare for drought.
