Abusive, vulgar words alone do not amount to obscenity under IPC: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court on Friday said that using abusive or vulgar words does not amount to obscenity under the IPC. The court noted, "Legally, obscenity is not synonymous with 'vulgarity', 'abuse' or 'profanity." Judges said such words must corrupt minds to be illegal, setting aside a man's 2017 conviction.
