Perspective on gold by Ashish Rajodiya, Head - Commodities, PL Capital.
"Gold slipped on Monday, with MCX gold at ₹1,49,150 per 10 grams, down ₹1,245, while silver held firmer at ₹2,26,050 per kg, up ₹173. Spot gold is hovering around $4,135 an ounce after losing more than 3% last week and about 6% over the past month. The metal is caught between two opposing forces. Friday's weak US jobs report, with payrolls up just 29,000 against expectations of 90,000 and unemployment edging up to 4.2%, has pushed the odds of an October Fed rate hike down to about 18%, from near 70% earlier in the week. Yet that relief has done little for bullion, because Treasury yields are still sitting at multi-decade highs and a firm dollar keeps raising the cost of holding a non-yielding asset. The broader view is sideways, with the metal likely to stay range-bound between support at ₹1,45,900 and resistance at ₹1,51,500. The Fed's October policy decision is the next trigger. A clear signal that the hiking cycle is over, along with easing yields, could lift gold toward the top of that range, while a hawkish tone or a fresh surge in yields would put the ₹1,45,900 floor to the test."

We initiate on Dhoot with Buy at Rs1,730 PT, 20% upside. Dhoot is a leading 2W wiring harness manufacturer in India, with dominant position in EVs. We expect strong 24% revenue CAGR over FY26-29E led by rising 2W demand, premiumization, electrification and portfolio expansion into battery packs, sensors, controllers and power electronics. We expect 27% EPS CAGR over FY26-29E. Its 43x 1-year forward PE, in our view, is justified for strong growth and franchise.
Initiate at Buy: We initiate on Dhoot with Buy and Rs1,730 PT. We like Dhoot's strong franchise in 2W wiring harness, dominant position in EVs, and broadening portfolio. Its 43x 1-year forward PE appears rich but is justified, in our view, for its strong growth and franchise; our PT is based on 42x Sep-28E PE. Key risks to our estimates include weaker 2W demand and slower electrification.

"Gold is entering the new week after a sharp correction, with the market balancing softer US economic data against a stronger dollar and elevated bond yields.
From the bullion industry's perspective, physical demand in India remains steady but selective. At current price levels, consumers and jewellers are likely to stagger purchases, while the festive and wedding season should gradually support demand.
For the week ahead, we expect bullion to remain volatile, with US rate expectations, the dollar, bond yields, geopolitical developments and the RBI's policy decision influencing prices."

Nifty is expected to open around 22,535, up by nearly 115 points, indicating a strong gap-up start. After the recent weakness and the index closing around the important 22,500 zone, this recovery is encouraging, but sustaining the gains will be important.
The immediate support is around 22,450-22,500, while 22,750-22,850 will act as the first resistance zone. If Nifty sustains above 22,850, the recovery can extend towards 23,000. However, I would avoid chasing the opening move and instead look for buying opportunities on dips if the index holds the key support zone.
The broader trend remains cautious, and a sustained move above 23,050 would be required for a meaningful improvement in the near-term setup. Until then, volatility and sharp intraday reversals cannot be ruled out.

Bitcoin's recovery toward $87,000 is being supported by improving institutional demand and stronger market positioning. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted around $2.65 billion in September, while on-chain data suggests holders remain comfortably in profit without aggressive profit-taking.
Derivatives activity is also picking up. BTC open interest has risen roughly 4.5%, around $105 million in shorts were liquidated, and volatility has climbed from 36.7, indicating traders are preparing for larger price swings.
Technically, BTC has reclaimed its major 2-hour moving averages, with $87,000-$87,300 now the key resistance. A sustained breakout could bring $88,000-$90,000 into focus, while $85,000-$85,500 remains important support.
Ethereum has also reclaimed its major 2-hour moving averages and is testing the $2,740-$2,750 resistance zone. A clean break could open room toward $2,775-$2,800, while $2,690-$2,700 is the first support area.
The near-term outlook for both remains constructive, but confirmation is important. BTC holding above $87,300 and ETH above $2,750 would strengthen the case for another leg higher, failure to clear these levels could keep both assets range-bound and vulnerable to a pullback.

Bitcoin is trading around $86,000. BTC has recovered from the 82,000-85,000 range seen at the start of October. The 84,000-85,000 zone is the immediate support area. The next important support is around $82,000. Resistance is around 87,000-88,000. A sustained break above this zone could put $90,000 in focus.
ETF demand remains supportive. US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw strong inflows during the second half of September. The September 21 session recorded about $999 million of inflows. Annual ETF flows had moved from a $5.8 billion deficit to roughly $800 million positive by September 25. This marked a significant reversal in institutional demand.
On-chain indicators remain constructive. Bitcoin's MVRV was around 1.59 in the latest available reading. SOPR was close to 1. This suggests that investors are still realising profits. However, there are no clear signs of extreme market-wide euphoria. A large share of Bitcoin supply also remains with long-term holders.
Large-cap altcoins are participating in the recovery. ETH is around $2,700. BNB is near $790. XRP is around $1.50. SOL is near $120. TRX is around $0.34. Ethereum and Solana remain among the stronger large-cap assets. Bitcoin, however, continues to attract the strongest institutional demand.
Macro conditions have become more supportive. US September payrolls increased by only 29,000. The unemployment rate rose to 4.2%. Markets have sharply reduced expectations of an October Fed hike. Reuters puts the probability at about 22%. However, inflation remains a risk. Brent crude is also around $102 a barrel.
Our advice: Investors should avoid chasing the rally. ETF flows remain constructive. However, oil prices, inflation and Treasury yields could drive volatility. US CPI on October 14 and the Fed meeting on October 27-28 will be important catalysts for crypto markets.

* Domestic airfares on key routes have risen sharply ahead of the festive and year-end travel season.
* Delhi-Hyderabad fares are up around 68% YoY, while Mumbai-Kolkata fares have increased about 51% YoY.
* Airlines have cut domestic flight frequencies by around 5%, while overall seat capacity remains broadly stable.
* Lower flight frequency and strong festive travel demand are supporting higher ticket yields.
* However, higher ATF prices remain a cost pressure and could partly offset the benefit from stronger fares.
Impact: Positive to Mixed for InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo) & SpiceJet -- higher fares should support yields and revenue, but elevated fuel costs could limit margin gains.

"Bitcoin has started October with a more constructive macro backdrop after softer U.S. jobs data sharply reduced expectations of an October Fed rate hike. Bitcoin's current setup is being shaped by a clear macro headwind, as U.S. Treasury yields remain elevated, keeping pressure on crypto even as Bitcoin holds around $84,000. After a strong September rally, BTC's ability to consolidate rather than sharply reverse suggests underlying demand remains intact. Ethereum is showing similar resilience, but the market is waiting for a fresh catalyst to push both assets higher.
What I find more significant is the change in the rate narrative. September payrolls added only 29,000 jobs, sharply below expectations, and markets have now cut the probability of an October Fed hike from 64% to 22%. That gives Bitcoin a potential liquidity catalyst, but I would not call this a clean breakout yet. BTC has repeatedly faced supply around $87,000 to $87,500, so reclaiming that zone and holding it would be the confirmation that buyers are absorbing overhead supply rather than simply reacting to weaker economic data.
For investors, the opportunity is to watch the interaction between yields and price, not chase the headline move. If Treasury yields continue easing while BTC holds above $84,000 and breaks $87,500, $90,000 becomes a credible next objective. Ethereum holding above $2,700 would add confirmation that the recovery is broadening. Until then, disciplined leverage and clearly defined levels remain essential." - Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder & CEO, Pi42

BTC is in a clear bullish trend on the daily chart. The earlier consolidation between roughly $62K-$67K formed a rising structure, followed by a strong breakout and impulsive move toward $76K-$82K. The $82K horizontal resistance was tested several times before finally breaking, and price is now trading above it, turning that area into an important support zone.
After the breakout, BTC made a sharp move higher and is now consolidating near the highs around $84K-$87K. The recent candles are relatively small compared with the breakout candles, showing that the market is taking a pause rather than aggressively selling off. There are also several lower wicks around the $84K-$85K area, suggesting buyers are stepping in on dips.
The $76K area acted as strong support during the previous consolidation, while the move from $76K to $82K and then above $82K shows a clear higher-high/higher-low structure. The rising trendline visible from the earlier lows also supports the overall bullish setup.
Volume increased significantly during the major upward breakout, which is a good confirmation. However, volume has reduced during the current consolidation, which is normal and suggests the market is waiting for the next directional move.
At the moment, BTC is testing the $87K-$88K resistance zone. A strong daily candle closing above this area would confirm another bullish breakout and could open the way toward $90K. On the other hand, a rejection from this zone followed by a break below $84K would indicate a deeper pullback, with $82K being the key level to watch.
Overall chart structure: Bullish → breakout → consolidation near highs → waiting for the next breakout."

Nischal Shetty, Founder, WazirX
"Asian markets opened with a broadly constructive tone, led by Japan. The Nikkei 225 gained 2.43%, while the KOSPI advanced 0.46%, Shanghai rose 0.31% and Singapore added 0.25%. The Hang Seng was the regional exception, declining 0.30%. This suggests improving risk appetite across Asia.
The wider crypto market reflected this improving sentiment. Total market capitalisation increased 1.86% over 24 hours to $2.95 trillion, compared with $2.90 trillion a week ago and $2.68 trillion a month ago. This points to a broader recovery in digital-asset valuations.
Bitcoin traded near $86,652. Immediate support is visible around 85,500-86,000, followed by 84,500-85,000. Resistance sits around 87,000-87,500, with $88,000 representing the next psychological hurdle. Ethereum traded near $2,732, with support around 2,680-2,700 and resistance near 2,760-2,800. Sustained participation above these resistance zones would strengthen short-term momentum, while rejection could extend consolidation.
Bitcoin's overall market dominance stood near 59.15%, confirming that it continues to lead the market. Within the CMC20 index, Bitcoin carried a 69.24% weight and Ethereum 13.25%. XRP and Solana followed at 3.82% and 2.84%, respectively. The concentration of more than 82% in Bitcoin and Ethereum shows that index performance remains heavily dependent on the two largest assets.
Derivatives data indicate that rising prices triggered a substantial short squeeze. Total 24-hour liquidations reached $139.49 million, comprising $114.42 million in shorts and $25.07 million in longs. Bitcoin accounted for $60.44 million and Ethereum $26.63 million. This suggests that bearish positions were caught by the recovery.
On the other hand, rising global bond yields could create a more restrictive liquidity environment for crypto markets. With the US Treasury yield reaching 5.34%, its highest level since 2002, investors can earn stronger returns from comparatively lower-risk government debt. This increases the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding and volatile assets such as Bitcoin and may slow institutional allocations to crypto.
The impact could be more pronounced across emerging markets. Higher global borrowing costs can encourage capital to move toward dollar-denominated bonds, strengthen the US dollar and place pressure on local currencies. Indian crypto sentiment may be shaped by the RBI's policy decision, inflation outlook and rupee movement this week. "

CMIE's latest data showed new project announcements rose 34.7% YoY to ₹30.4tn in H1FY27 from ₹22.6tn in H1FY26. The increase was led by services and electricity, while manufacturing announcements declined 22.4% YoY to ₹8.2tn. Services-led announcements doubled to ₹11.9tn, driven by IT projects, which surged to ₹9.5tn from ₹0.7tn a year ago. Electricity projects also rose 85.2% YoY to ₹9.2tn. Thus, the investment recovery remains concentrated in power and new-economy infrastructure, rather than reflecting a broad-based revival in manufacturing capex.
RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra called for greater vigilance over financial stability, cautioning that current resilience may not imply future immunity. He noted that prolonged stability can encourage risk-taking and leverage, allowing financial vulnerabilities to build rapidly.

### Historical Context - Past 10 Years (and longer)
*Nifty 50 PE trends (key reference points):*
- *10-year median / average*: ~23.2-23.3 (some sources show average closer to 24-24.8 depending on exact window and standalone vs consolidated).
- *5-year median*: ~21.9-22.0.
- *Full history (longer-term) median*: ~20.9-21.3.
- Current 19.19 is *below* the 10-year, 5-year, 3-year, and 1-year medians (typically 8-18% cheaper than these benchmarks). It sits near the bottom of the post-April 2021 consolidated-earnings era (0th-low single-digit percentile in many readings) and is among the lowest levels in the last decade outside of deep stress periods.
*Notable historical range for Nifty 50 (approximate):*
- 10-year low: ~17.15 (March 2020 COVID trough).
- Highs: ~39-42 (early 2021 post-COVID rebound peak on mixed basis); year-end peaks often 26-28 in 2017-2019.
- Year-end examples (approximate, mixing bases where noted): 2016 ~21.5-22, 2017 ~26-27, 2018 ~26, 2019 ~28, 2020 ~37-38, 2021 ~24, 2022 ~22, 2023 ~23, 2024 ~22, 2025 ~23, 2026 YTD low ~19.2.
*Note on methodology*: NSE switched index PE calculation from standalone to consolidated earnings around end-March 2021. This lowered reported PE levels (often by several points) for the same prices/earnings. Pre-2021 comparisons require caution; post-2021 data is more consistent for recent analysis.
*Nifty Bank*:
- Current 12.91 is well below its 5-year median (~16) and 10-year median (~22-23). It ranks in the lower percentiles of recent history and is viewed as moderately undervalued on a historical basis.
*Midcap / Smallcap*:
- Midcaps (e.g., Midcap 50 at ~29.8) are near or modestly below recent 5-year medians (~31) but still elevated vs longer-term history (10-year medians often higher, full history lower). Smallcaps remain richer (high 30s).
### Analysis vs Past 10 Years
- *Nifty 50 / large-caps are relatively attractive*: Trading ~15-18% below the 10-year median and at multi-year lows on a consolidated basis. Valuations have compressed significantly from the 21-24x range common in 2023-2025 and the much higher post-COVID peaks. Recent commentary notes Nifty near post-Covid valuation lows on a forward basis as well, with the multiple contraction driving much of the recent price weakness while earnings continued (more modestly) to grow.
- This is *not* extreme bargain territory like March 2020 (~17) or 2008/2011 lows, but it is clearly in the cheaper zone of the last decade. Historically, buying Nifty when PE is in the low-20s or below (especially relative to its own median) has been associated with better subsequent medium-to-long-term returns, though past performance is no guarantee.
- *Banking is cheaper*: Nifty Bank at ~13x stands out as one of the more undervalued major segments versus its own history.
- *Mid/small-caps are less compelling on pure PE*: Still elevated versus long-term averages even after some cooling, though recent relative performance and earnings growth have been stronger in parts of this universe.
- *Overall market context*: Large-cap valuations have reset lower amid broader market pressure (Nifty down significantly from peaks). Earnings growth remains a key swing factor -- sustained double-digit growth would support re-rating from these levels, while any slowdown would keep multiples under pressure. Global factors, interest rates, and domestic flows also influence where PE settles.
*Bottom line*: Nifty 50 and Sensex PE levels look reasonable to moderately undervalued versus the past 10 years' norms (especially the 10-year median near 23+). Banking looks particularly attractive on this metric. Mid- and small-caps are closer to fair or still somewhat rich. PE is only one lens -- pair it with earnings growth trajectory, PB, dividend yield, and macro conditions for a fuller view. Data is as of early October 2026 and can shift daily with prices and quarterly earnings updates.
