Private sector lender RBL Bank shares were in focus in Monday's trade as investors awaited the Mumbai-headquartered bank's financial results due later in the day. The bank is expected to stage a strong earnings performance for the fiscal second quarter, with net profit seen nearly trebling on a year-on-year basis.
According to Zee Business research, RBL Bank is estimated to register a net profit of Rs 520 crore for the quarter ended September 30, which translates to a multi-fold jump over its net profit of Rs 178.5 crore for the second quarter of FY26.
Its net interest income -- or the difference between interest earned and interest paid -- is estimated to grow 35 per cent over the year-ago period to Rs 2,090 crore.
Analysts peg RBL Bank's September-quarter gross non-performing assets (GNPAs) -- or gross bad loans -- at 1.2 per cent of total loans for the September quarter versus 1.3 per cent three months ago.
Asset quality is determined by measuring changes in the proportion of bad loans in total assets.
Its net non-performing assets (NNPAs) -- or net bad loans -- are estimated to shrink to 0.3 per cent of total loans in Q2 from 0.4 per cent in Q1, according to the research.
Analysts anticipate RBL Bank's quarterly provisions to increase to Rs 610 crore versus Rs 500 crore in the June quarter and Rs 600 crore in the first quarter of FY27.
Provisions are money that a bank or financial institution sets aside from its profits to cover potential or expected losses from loans that may not be repaid.
Earlier this month, RBL Bank reported growth rates of 34 per cent and 40 per cent in deposits and advances during the quarter.
Its CASA ratio declined to 27.2 per cent from 31.9 per cent a year ago.
CASA ratio measures the share of a bank's low-cost current-account and savings-account deposits in total deposits.
A decline generally signals higher funding costs, while an increase usually supports a lower cost of funds.
Earlier this month, RBL shares rose as much as 1.6 per cent to Rs 424.2 apiece on BSE during Monday's session.
At current levels, the RBL Bank stock has risen 33.5 per cent so far this year, outperforming losses of 14.5 per cent and 8.2 per cent, respectively.
AI-powered market intelligence platform Kwala Intel has a "cautious-mildly bullish" near-term outlook on RBL Bank shares, advising against chasing the stock now.
Although the weekly trend is up, the daily and hourly structure remain mixed, and the banking sector is broadly weak, according to Kwala Intel.
"Prefer confirmation above resistance or a pullback; current levels do not support an aggressive fresh entry," says the platform.
"Range-bound, not a clean breakout: price is near its 52-week high and the setup engine says not to initiate above ₹402.42. The level is a pullback entry, not a forecast; if it does not arrive after today's scheduled earnings call, skip rather than chase," adds Kwala Intel, which enables users to interpret market data in real time to make actionable decisions.
