Onion prices up 59%, govt ramps up 'Kanda Express' supplies to cool market

Onion prices rose 59 per cent to Rs 43.53 per kg on August 24. To cool the market, the Centre started moving buffer stocks from Nashik using 'Kanda Express' railway rakes. Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare said, "Mandi prices in Nasik are ruling higher than Delhi, which should be the case."
