Investor push
Singapore is India's largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI), with cumulative inflows of around $194.68 billion between April 2000 and March 2026.
Singaporean institutional investors, including the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) and Temasek Holdings, have significant investments across the Indian economy.
As part of her investment-focused engagements, Sitharaman will participate in a roundtable with hedge fund and portfolio fund managers and hold a series of government-to-business (G2B) meetings with Singaporean and international investors, financial institutions and business leaders.
The interactions will provide an opportunity to discuss India's growth prospects, investment opportunities and developments in the global economic and financial landscape.
CEO meetings
Sitharaman will also hold one-to-one meetings with senior business leaders and heads of global financial institutions, investment firms and healthcare companies.
The meetings will include the chief executives of GIC, Temasek Holdings, DBS Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, British International Investment (BII), IHH Healthcare Berhad, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group's Asia-Pacific operations, B Capital and HPS Investment Partners.
She will also meet the chairperson of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB), a director on the board of Mitsui & Co. and the executive chairman and founding partner of TPG.
Investment routes
Platforms such as the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) and GIFT City could provide avenues for greater participation by Singaporean investors, including through investment vehicles and funds.
The Ministry of Finance will work with relevant ministries and industry bodies to connect interested Singaporean investors with Indian companies, financial institutions and state governments. It will also provide support to help move identified investment opportunities forward.
The visit reflects India's focus on using its strategic partnership with Singapore to increase investment, build business partnerships and deliver tangible economic outcomes.
