Reliance Jio said on Thursday that its upcoming IPO will mark the start of the company’s next growth phase. Akash Ambani noted that the IPO is a big step for the ten-year-old firm. The company expects to open for public subscription in the second half of this month, October 2026.
Reliance Jio on Thursday said that the upcoming initial public offering (IPO) will mark the beginning of Jio’s next growth phase, which will also provide value to shareholders.
“From my perspective, Reliance has had a very strong history on shareholders’ value and that’s what we need to focus on the further journey from the IPO. Of course, the IPO is the biggest step for our 10-year-old company, and we truly believe that the future journey is very exciting,” Akash Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio Infocomm, told reporters on the sidelines of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026 here.
He said the company was “working very hard” on bringing this IPO. The company is expected to open for public subscription in the second half of this month.
Talking about satellite communications, the company is also awaiting spectrum from the government. Ambani said, “I have always said that Jio has always stood for the consumers, and satellite plays a part...the biggest use case of satellite technology today is in home connect part of it.”
He said that Jio was making sure that every home has broadband connectivity with a mission, and Satellite is only going to increase that very rapidly.
“But, today we can say that we cover 99 per cent of Indian homes, and anyone who wants it can avail from Jio technology,” he said.
When asked about tariff hikes for its mobile services to get more average revenue per user (ARPU), Ambani said that Jio aimed to deliver a lot of value and Jio has always stood for inclusivity.
“We brought 50-crore Indians to data-centric mode...we keep on driving that, and at the right time when we are launching these services we look to explore all the avenues. But we have always stood for inclusivity, and we have always stood for affordability,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ambani also said that Jio was working to develop an indigenous satellite technology stack and has already filed patents in the pre-6G space as it looks to strengthen India’s position in next-generation telecommunications.
