Gold overtakes US Treasuries in reserves: Why isn't this de-dollarization?

Central banks held more gold than US government bonds at the end of 2025. While gold reached 27% of reserves, the IMF said this shift happened because gold prices rose, not because of de-dollarization. In fact, the share of US dollar holdings actually increased to 57.13% in 2026Q1.
