Bajaj Finance hikes FD rates: Following the hike in the repo rate by the RBI's MPC today, Bajaj Finance Limited raised interest rates on its fixed deposits (FDs) by 15 to 40 basis points. The new rates are effective from today, October 7, 2026 and apply to both fresh deposits and renewals. The company has increased rates across all FD tenures from 12 months to 60 months.
The biggest increase is for deposits with a tenure of 31 to 60 months. Rates for regular depositors have increased by 35 basis points. For senior citizens, the increase is 40 basis points.
Regular depositors can now earn up to 7.75 per cent per year on fresh cumulative deposits for 31 to 60 months. The earlier rate was 7.40 per cent.
For deposits of 12 to 17 months, the rate has increased from 6.60 per cent to 6.80 per cent per year. For 18 to 30 months, the rate has increased from 6.85 per cent to 7.00 per cent per year.
Senior citizens will get an additional 0.40 per cent per year over the regular FD rates. Earlier, the additional rate was 0.35 per cent.
Senior citizens can now earn up to 8.15 per cent per year on fresh deposits with a tenure of 31 to 60 months. The earlier rate was 7.75 per cent.
For 12 to 17 months, the new rate is 7.20 per cent per year. For 18 to 30 months, the rate is 7.40 per cent per year.
Customers who renew their maturing deposits will get an additional 0.10 per cent per year. With this benefit, regular depositors can earn up to 7.85 per cent per year. Senior citizens can earn up to 8.25 per cent per year on deposits with a tenure of 31 to 60 months.
Customers can choose between cumulative and non-cumulative FD options. Under the cumulative option, interest is paid at maturity. Under the non-cumulative option, customers can receive interest every month, quarter, half-year or year.
For example, a senior citizen choosing monthly interest payments on a 31-to-60-month deposit will now earn 7.86 per cent per year.
Sachin Sikka, Senior Executive Vice President - Deposits & Wealth Management, Bajaj Finance, said, "Fixed Deposits continue to be an important part of a balanced savings portfolio, particularly for senior citizens looking for predictable returns. We have weighted our rate hike towards longer tenures, so depositors can lock in higher returns for up to five years on a AAA-rated deposit they can open online in minutes. The additional benefit on renewals is our way of thanking customers who continue to trust us with their savings."
Customers can invest in Bajaj Finance FDs with a minimum amount of Rs 15,000. They can book or renew their deposits through the company's website and app, branches and partner channels. The FD scheme is rated AAA/Stable by CRISIL and AAA/Stable by ICRA, according to the company.
Bajaj Finance also offers a loan-against-FD facility. This allows customers to access funds without closing their deposits before maturity.
