The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decided to raise the policy repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.5% after the conclusion of its three-day meeting on Wednesday, October 7. This is the first time in over three-and-a-half years that policy interest rates have been hiked by India's central bank.
