How England's largest forest went from commodity to conservation haven

England's largest forest, Kielder, started 100 years ago to boost timber reserves. Now, this 60,000-hectare woodland balances commercial use with conservation. It's a haven for rare plants and animals, with wildlife manager Paul Pickett calling osprey nesting "magical." Many species, including red squirrels, now thrive there.
