A North Atlantic "cold blob" is surprisingly linked to Europe's heatwaves. This cool patch, bucking global warming, can alter the jet stream. Researchers say this change can create heat domes over Europe, making extreme hot spells worse. "A cold Atlantic doesn't necessarily mean a colder Europe," said Gerard McCarthy.
