The Vvaan, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, became the first Hindi film to feature a Chhath Puja celebration. Fans in Bihar celebrated by offering thekua inside cinema halls. The film got a positive response and crossed the Rs 53.72 crore mark at the box office in India recently.
The Vvaan, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles, turned out to be the first Hindi film to show a Chhath Puja celebration on the big screen. The Ekta Kapoor-produced film is getting positive responses from the masses, especially in UP and Bihar, all thanks to a beautiful representation of Chhath Puja. The Bihari fans have taken The Vvaan craze to another level by taking off their footwear before entering the cinema halls. Apart from that, some women were also spotted dressed in traditional Chhath outfit and distributing freshly prepared thekua to the audience sitting inside the theatre.
Moreover, the viewers also got emotional after hearing the devotional track, Chhathi Maiya, rendered in the voice of the late Padma Bhushan recipient, Sharda Sinha. She was also known as Bihar Kokila. The viral clips from The Vvaan screenings are proof that the craze for the film amongst the Bihari fans is real.
Before the release of the film, Tamannaah Bhatia opened up about the Chhath Puja sequence in The Vvaan. She spoke about it at the trailer launch of the film in Delhi. The actress had said, “For the first time in Hindi cinema, Chhath Puja has been presented like this. Genuinely, Deepak and Arunabh sir, they understand this so well, and they have so much respect, and they so strongly feel about it that while we were shooting, they made sure that everything was taken care of and it was shot beautifully and shot with great respect.”
The Vvaan has crossed the Rs 40 crore mark at the box office in India. The total gross collection of the film in India is Rs 53.72 crore. The Vvaan is expected to cross the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office in the first week.
