Sanjay Dutt says he "can't feel peace" in India anymore and prays for those days to return during a Gandhi Jayanti special of Shekhar Tonite.

Sanjay Dutt slipped back into Munna Bhai mode for a Gandhi Jayanti special of Shekhar Suman's Shekhar Tonite, but this time, the setting was neither a hospital nor the streets of Mumbai. Asked to imagine himself as the Prime Minister of India for five minutes, the actor delivered a satirical monologue packed with references to Mahatma Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump.

The segment, released on Friday, saw Sanjay revive the street-smart language and mannerisms associated with his much-loved Munna Bhai character. He joked about foreign travel, political photographs, missiles and tariffs, while repeatedly returning to "Gandhigiri", the philosophy that became central to Lage Raho Munna Bhai.

Sanjay Dutt Says He Misses A Sense Of Peace In India

Before the mock PM speech began, Sanjay spoke about India and said he wished for a greater sense of peace in the country.

"The people of this country are so lovely. There should be peace here. I can't feel that peace in our country anymore. We Indians are large-hearted people and we are hospitable. We have given so much, and we should always remain that way. I pray to Shivji that those days come back soon," he said.

The conversation then moved into a lighter zone when he was asked what he would tell the country if he were made Prime Minister for five minutes.

Sanjay wasted little time before slipping into Munna Bhai's familiar vocabulary.

"Chalo desh mein kuch to chal rehla hai. Mere pyaare deshwasiyo, aaj apun aapka PM banke khub khush hua. Bole to body mein ajeeb type ka tarang daud re la hai. Bole to itna bada desh hai, itne saare log hain aur ab hum sabki zimmedari apun ke upar," he said.

Sanjay Jokes About PM And Foreign Trips

Continuing the imaginary address, Sanjay joked that he would remain among the people instead of travelling abroad to celebrate his new position.

"Lekin aap log ekdum tension nahi lene ka. Apun is khushi ko celebrate karne videsh nahi jaane wala hai. Apun idharich rahega, aap sab logon ke beech. Nahi to PM aur janta mein connection kaise banega," he said.

The remark was framed as part of the satirical sketch, with Sanjay maintaining the same exaggerated Munna Bhai cadence throughout.

He then turned to Gandhi's famous three monkeys and suggested that the familiar idea needed an update.

"Apun Gandhi ji ko bahut maanta hai. Aur Gandhi ji ke teen bandar sabko pata hai -- bura mat dekho, bura mat suno, bura mat kaho. Lekin aaj ek chautha bandar bhi mangta hai. Bura dekhega to use theek kaun karega?" he said.

He followed it with another punchline: "Teeno bandar aankh, kaan, munh band karke baith jayega to desh kaise chalega, saala?"

'Desh Ko Desh Ka Photo Dikhna Chahiye'

Sanjay's mock PM speech then moved to the use of leaders' photographs in public communication.

"Aur apun ko desh ke liye bahut kuch karne ka mauka mila hai PM banke, to apun ek aur kaam karega. Jahaan jahaan uska photo laga hai na, apun usko ekdum kam kar dega. Desh ko desh ka photo dikhna chahiye," he said.

He continued the joke by saying that wherever he felt like displaying his own photograph, he would instead put up a picture of Mahatma Gandhi.

"Jahaan apna photo lagane ka mann karega na, wahaan Gandhi ji ka photo lagane ka. Bole to Gandhi ji ke vichar dekhna zyada zaroori hai. Apun ka photo dekh ke janta kya karega?" Sanjay said.

"Bole to apna photo to apun baad mein bhi khichwa sakta hai na, lekin desh ko pehle frame mein lagane ka," he added.

Sanjay Dutt Calls Donald Trump 'Trump Mamu'

The satire then crossed international borders as Sanjay brought Donald Trump into the monologue.

"Aur agar desh ko frame mein laana hai to thoda duniya ko bhi frame mein laana padega na. Bole to apun dekh raha hai ki Trump mamu puri duniya ko out of frame karne mein laga hai," he said.

From there, Sanjay returned to one of the best-known ideas associated with Lage Raho Munna Bhai.

"Peace banta hai pyaar se aur pyaar aata hai Gandhigiri se. Bole to Trump mamu ko thoda Gandhigiri sikhana padega," he said.

He then imagined replacing threats and military confrontation with bouquets, phone calls and conversations over tea.

"Dekho Trump mamu, zyada tante nahi paalne ka. Duniya mein missile waise hi bahut ho gaya hai. Ab thoda pyaar bhi export karne ka. Kahin missile bhejne ka mann kare to pehle guldasta bhejne ka. Kisi ko dhamki dene ka mann kare na to use phone karke ghar bulane ka aur chai peete-peete baat suljhane ka," he said.

Sanjay wrapped up the bit with a line straight out of the Munna Bhai playbook: "Apun aa rela hai America, tumko jaadu ki jhappi dene."

The Munna Bhai Connection

The monologue deliberately drew from Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Rajkumar Hirani's 2006 film in which Sanjay's Munna Bhai begins engaging with Mahatma Gandhi's ideas and applies non-violence and what the film calls "Gandhigiri" to everyday conflicts. The concept became one of the film's most recognisable elements, alongside Munna's friendship with Circuit.
