The Andhra Pradesh government approved a seven-day ticket price hike for Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 starting October 15. Single-screen theatres can charge Rs 50 extra, while multiplexes add Rs 75. This increase lasts until October 21. Meanwhile, Vijay Deverakonda's Ranabaali will release at standard rates, as the producers did not seek hikes.

Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 gets a seven-day ticket price hike in Andhra Pradesh, while Vijay Deverakonda's Ranabaali will release at standard rates.

Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 will cost moviegoers more in Andhra Pradesh during its opening week. The state government has approved a temporary increase in ticket prices for the film across theatres, with the revised rates coming into effect from October 15, the day of its release.

The order allows single-screen theatres to charge Rs 50 above the usual admission rate, while multiplexes can add Rs 75 to their standard ticket price. The hike will remain in place for seven days, from October 15 to October 21, and will apply to five shows per day.

That means audiences watching Jailer 2 in Andhra Pradesh during its first week will pay more than the regular capped ticket price applicable in the state.

Andhra Pradesh Approves Seven-Day Price Hike

Unlike many states where exhibitors can largely decide ticket prices based on demand, Andhra Pradesh follows a government-regulated system.

The state fixes maximum ticket rates for both single screens and multiplexes. Any increase beyond those limits requires specific government permission, usually granted on a film-by-film basis.

For Jailer 2, the government has now allowed both categories of theatres to increase prices for the first seven days of release.

The application was submitted through Sithara Entertainments, which is handling the film's distribution in Andhra Pradesh.

Jailer 2 And Ranabaali Take Different Pricing Routes

The price increase is particularly notable because Jailer 2 arrives during the Dussehra release period, with Vijay Deverakonda's Ranabaali releasing just a day later on October 16.

However, the two films will follow very different ticketing strategies in the Telugu states.

Mythri Movie Makers, the producers of Ranabaali, had recently issued a statement denying reports that they had sought a ticket-price increase.

"Ranabaali will release at standard ticket prices, and we are confident that audiences will have a great cinematic experience this festive season," the production house said on X.

So while Jailer 2 will open with government-approved higher rates in Andhra Pradesh, Ranabaali will continue with the regular ticket prices in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

How Ticket Pricing Works In Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh remains one of the few states in India where cinema ticket prices are directly regulated by the government.

Separate price ceilings are fixed for single-screen theatres and multiplexes. Films that want to charge more during their initial run must seek official approval.

Telangana follows a similar regulated model, although its system is administered separately.

In most other states, theatre owners and multiplex chains have greater freedom to alter ticket prices according to demand, location and the scale of the release.
