Katrina Kaif faced online trolling and body-shaming recently over her postpartum weight gain following the birth of her son. Kriti Sanon, meanwhile, was criticised for her outfit in jewellery brand GIVA's Raksha Bandhan advertisement, with some social media users questioning its suitability for the traditional festival. Amid the backlash against both actresses, Mrunal Thakur came out in their support. In a recent interview, she called out the criticism and urged people to remember Katrina and Kriti's contributions to the film industry and their business ventures rather than judge their personal choices.

While speaking to PTI recently, Mrunal Thakur spoke out against the public scrutiny celebrities often face over their appearance and clothing choices, defending her industry colleagues against online criticism. She said, "It's their life; it's their choice, and everyone has a right to enjoy their phase of their life. And who are we? People who are judging all these iconic women, do we forget how amazing work (they have done) and the contribution towards the industry and business both of these women?"

She went on to add, "Be it Kriti and Katrina, they are running a business not just in India but everywhere in UK and all. I think people should not comment on anyone else. People are crazy; what else to say." Mrunal further pointed out that women are constantly subjected to judgement, adding that men, too, face scrutiny over various aspects of their lives.

Recently, Katrina, too, seemingly reacted to ongoing trolling about her weight. While speaking at an event in London, she said, "I think we really need to be careful of letting narrative on social media affect our self-worth and value because there are so many opinions out there. If we're going to start to cater to all of them, it really hampers your ability to make choices for yourself. Personally, for me, every time that I faced critics or comments, if I let that dictate my actions, I think I would have been paralysed with fear and unable to move ahead in my life. There are times the world is going to celebrate you and other times, you really have to be your own biggest cheerleader."

Meanwhile, jewellery brand GIVA withdrew its Raksha Bandhan advertisement featuring Kriti Sanon after it faced backlash over her outfit and the portrayal of the festival. However, Kriti stood by her choice and responded to the criticism on social media, emphasising that a woman's respect for her culture should not be judged by her clothes. She also stressed that the essence of festivals lies in the emotions and traditions associated with them, rather than what one wears.
