Fans are comparing Jennifer Winget’s role in Shaque: Trust No One to her iconic character Maya from Beyhadh. Producer Siddharth P Malhotra said, "If people are reminded of Maya, it's a good thing." The series premiered on September 24, and the team is now actively working on a second season.
Jennifer Winget garnered positive feedback for her solid performance in Shaque: Trust No One. In the seven-episode series, the actress plays Sakshi, who plans Apeksha/Rhea's abduction and raises her as her own daughter. This happens after Sakshi loses her child during a car accident. After watching the actress in this Netflix series, fans were reminded of Jennifer's iconic character Maya from Beyhadh. An ambulance scene where Jennifer's Sakshi shows intense expressions while Parineeti Chopra's Anvita is hallucinating sparked paralles between the two roles. And now, in an exclusive interview with Zoom, producer and creator Siddharth P Malhotra has reacted to it.
When Siddharth was asked about fans drawing parallels between Sakshi from Shaque and Beyhadh's Maya, the producer told us, "That's a very good thing. See, that's an iconic character. The first Beyhadh was created by me. It's in a way tribute to my work. That Maya came from me only. It didn't come from anybody else. Beyhadh one was produced by my father's company, Cinevista. At that time I had started Alchemy, but I was the first person who worked on Beyhadh and sold it to Sony."
The producer further praised Jennifer, calling her a lovely person. He also highlighted the actress' character blossoms in Shaque. "If people are reminded of Maya, it's a good thing. People are not reminded of Maya, and people are still celebrating Jennifer - it's a good thing. She has a very strong and loyal fan following. So it's important for her fans to also get something that celebrates her. She's a lovely person."
Siddharth added that everyone knew Jennifer's role was pretty much limited in the series, but it has an arc and blossoms at a point. That said, he also confirmed that Shaque's season two will be made. "We are working on season two actively right now. We exploring creatively story-wise but we don't have the story locked right now. We are actively working with writers trying to find season two right now."
