Jason Sanjay, son of actor-turned-politician and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, is making his directorial debut with Sigma, starring Sundeep Kishan in the lead. The film also features Faria Abdullah, Sampath Raj, Shiv Panditt and Yog Japee among the other members of the cast with music composed by S Thaman. As his film releases in theatres today, (October 2) on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Jason opened up about his father’s likely reaction to the film and revealed how Thalapathy Vijay usually responds when asked for his opinion on things.
Speaking to Pearle Maaney on her YouTube show, Jason Sanjay opened up about his equation with his father and called Vijay as someone who prefers to take his time before arriving at a conclusion.
“My dad is usually a quiet person. He takes his time. If I ask a question, he’ll take 10 seconds to respond. If he’s quiet all the while, I’ll ask, ‘Did you cut the call, Appa?’ Think, come to your conclusion, and then call me, email me, or something. I think you need more time to analyse the film. But he’ll like the film; he’ll be proud,” he said.
A few weeks ago, at the audio and trailer launch of Sigma, Jason also acknowledged the support of his family. During his speech, he thanked his mother, father and sister, while referring to Vijay’s current role as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. “Ennoda Amma ku thanks.. Ennoda appa.. Innaiku Chief minister.. Avaruku Thanks.. Ennoda Dear sister Divya.. Avalukum romba Thanks..” he said, thanking his mother, father and sister Divya.
Previously Jason revealed that Vijay was among the first people to support his decision to pursue filmmaking. When he shared his plans with his father, Vijay was among the first people to encourage him. "He was the first one to give me a green signal because he has been in the industry for so long. More than my mother and my sister, he actually understood the importance of it," he said.
Sigma follows Guru, a treasure hunter and radio host whose life changes after a betrayal leaves him with nothing. He then sets his sights on a massive operation involving a Rs 500-crore racket controlled by the ruthless Kotlapadi Veeraiya Reddy. Instead of taking on the powerful syndicate directly, Guru assembles a team and plans an elaborate heist.
