Dove Cameron and Damiano David married in Montalcino, Tuscany, on Thursday 24 September. The couple held a three-day celebration, including a civil ceremony and a main event at a ruined castle. Their vows included the phrase, "The best part of being alive," which they also engraved inside their wedding rings.

Vogue has revealed the details of the singer-actor couple's three-day Tuscan wedding, from a civil ceremony in a medieval town hall to a vineyard dinner and a ruined-castle main ceremony.

Dove Cameron and Damiano David married in Montalcino, Tuscany, on Thursday 24 September, with celebrations running through to Saturday at the Castiglion del Bosco resort, according to Vogue.

The couple met briefly at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, where Cameron won Best New Artist and Måneskin, the Italian band fronted by David, were also nominated. They reconnected at the same ceremony a year later. The couple now divide their time between LA and Rome, and worked with planner Alessandra Grillo on the weekend.

Civil ceremony in Montalcino

The first ceremony took place at the Palazzo dei Priori, Montalcino's medieval town hall, with only close family and friends present. Italian outlets including ANSA and Sky TG24 reported that mayor Silvio Franceschelli officiated. The couple arrived in a vintage white Lancia convertible and walked in to a three-string version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Vogue said. Cameron's best friend, Veronica St. Clair, witnessed the signing.

The date was the third anniversary of their first real date, per the magazine. Afterwards they returned to Castiglion del Bosco for risotto and dancing to a live band in the resort's cellar.

Welcome dinner and main ceremony

Guests joined on Friday for a long table set among the vineyards, dressed in wine-red linens and decorated with cherub statues, silver candelabras and red grapes. Buffalo mozzarella and paccheri al pomodoro were served, Vogue reported.

The main ceremony followed on Saturday among the ruins of the resort's 12th-century castle. Sheer white fabric ran down the stone terraces, with hydrangeas and calla lilies along the route. Cameron walked down the aisle with her mother, Bonnie. Kenny Ortega, who directed her in the first three Descendants films, officiated. Måneskin's other members were among the guests.

The couple's vows included the phrase "The best part of being alive", Vogue said. It is engraved inside both engagement rings and was embroidered into the lining of her corset.

Dinner was held in the town square, with speeches from the bride's mother and sister and a fruit-and-flower cake by Milanese baker Mami Louise. An after-party followed in a greenhouse on the estate, with Martini vermouth cocktails and a set from DJ Nicky Macha.

The clothes

Cameron wore a bespoke Giorgio Armani ivory suit with a floor-length cape for the civil ceremony, and a Blumarine dress for the dinner that followed. For the main ceremony she chose a Valentino gown designed with creative director Alessandro Michele. Its four-metre veil was embroidered with crystals and micro-beads in the shape of star constellations, a reference to her middle name, Celeste. She changed for the after-party into a beaded and sequinned mini dress by Fausto Puglisi for Roberto Cavalli.

David wore an ivory double-breasted suit by Giuliva Heritage for the civil ceremony and a three-piece Armani suit for the main event, finished with a Bvlgari brooch and cufflinks and an Audemars Piguet watch loaned from the brand's private museum.

The venue

Castiglion del Bosco is a Rosewood property covering more than 4,900 acres in the hills near Montalcino, built around a historic village. It has hosted other high-profile weddings, including those of Kate Upton and Justin Verlander in 2017 and Caroline Wozniacki and David Lee in 2019. Vanity Fair Italia was first to report the venue, and details of the weekend were closely held until Vogue published its feature on 29 September.
