Veteran filmmaker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao passed away on Saturday (October 3) at the age of 94. The National Award-winning filmmaker, screenwriter and music composer had directed several path-breaking films in Telugu and Tamil cinema. SS Rajamouli, who is known for delivering blockbuster films like Baahubali, RRR and so on, paid tribute to the late visionary director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao after his demise. In his X post, the Varanasi director mentioned that he has learnt a lot from the late filmmaker. He revealed that Singeetham Srinivasa Rao brought revolution in film-making and taught many aspiring filmmakers that the real limit of cinema is nothing but an imagination.

SS Rajamouli Mourns Singeetham Srinivasa Rao's Demise

SS Rajamouli took to his X handle and penned a heartwarming note while remembering Singeetham Srinivasa Rao's body of work. In his note, Rajamouli stated that the late director dared to dream bigger than anyone around him, where people had the tools or budgets.

The RRR director stated, "He made a film without a single line of dialogue, took us travelling through time, and moved from comedy to fantasy to deeply human drama as if no line existed between genres." Apart from that, SS Rajamouli also said that he owes to Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, as the late filmmaker was known for trying something different in his every project. He concluded his note by stating, "My deepest condolences to Singeetham Srinivasa Rao garu's family. Om Shanti." (sic)

Kamal Haasan's Tribute To Singeetham Srinivasa Rao

Singeetham Srinivasa Rao's demise is indeed a big loss to the Telugu and Tamil film industry. He had a huge influence on Kamal Haasan's acting career. They had collaborated on several films in Tamil film industry. The actor-politician had also visited Singeetham's residence to pay his last respect to his mentor.

Kamal offered his condolences to the bereaved family. Rao's mortal remains were kept at his residence for his friends, celebrities and family members to offer their last respects.

The Indian star spoke to the local media and said, "He decided to die young, and that's what he did. A great example for any young or old man and any artist. He has left a lot of wealth behind through his association with younger people."

Coming back to SS Rajamouli, the director is coming up with his next film, Varanasi with Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The Pan-India project is scheduled to be released on April 7, 2027, in theatres.
