Susan Dell shared details about her 1988 blind date with Michael Dell after a recent White House speech. She said, “Most men I dated talked about themselves a lot and tried to impress me.” Unlike those star athletes, Michael was the nicest guy she ever met, leading to their marriage.

Synopsis

During a recent speech at the White House, Susan Dell engaged and inspired audiences with her insights on government-sponsored children's investment accounts. Her journey with Michael Dell began with a blind date in 1988, leading to their marriage a year later. Residing in a sprawling estate in Austin, Texas, they have raised four children while Michael enjoys a status as one of the wealthiest people globally.

Susan Dell, shortly after going out for the first time with her soon-to-be husband and founder of PC’s Limited, Michael Dell, spoke about the quality that had won her over. The 62-year-old co-founder of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation's personal life is in the social media limelight after her appearance during a recent White House event was widely shared.

Susan, on Wednesday, October 7, delivered a passionate speech on Trump Accounts, where qualifying children born between 2025 and 2028 can receive a $1,000 government sponserded deposit in an investment account.

Since then, a barrage of social media users voiced their reactions to how she looked at the camera between her 61-year-old husband and the US President. That started the conversation about her personal life.

As per Texas Monthly, Michael and Susan first met on a blind date in Austin, Texas. It was February 1988, shortly after she relocated there to work for real estate developer Trammell Crow. A client of hers insisted that she meet Michael for lunch. A year earlier, he rebranded PC's Limited to Dell Computer Corporation and started to get recognized.

There she suggested an “easy” bike ride; but the computer mogul discovered “her definition of an easy ride was very different from his,” OneDell website describes. And looking back at the pictures, this comment is because of her incredible fitness at that time.

“It was his first glimpse of her strength and commitment, and the first of many rides they’d take side by side,” the site wrote.

Shortly after returning from the blind date, Susan told her brother Steve that she was impressed.

“Most men I dated talked about themselves a lot and tried to impress me,” Susan recalled the outcome of the date to Texas Monthly in a 2000 interview. “He was the nicest guy I'd ever met... I always knew I would marry the greatest guy in the world.”

Regarding her previous dating, she liked mostly athletes. “Susan always went out with the star athletes - the quarterback, the pitcher for the baseball team,” Steve told the outlet about her days as a cheerleader. “She didn’t get serious with them, but they were serious about her.”

A year after meeting each other, they got married in 1989.

The couple then had four children: Alexa, Kira, Juliette, and Zachary. The Dells brought up their family on an expansive Austin estate known as “The Castle,” which has eight bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, multiple swimming pools, and a tennis court.

Michael, currently the fourth richest person on this planet, possesses a net worth of $282.5 billion as per Forbes. In May this year, Dell secured a $9.7 billion contract with the US military to supply software.
