Stock Market Highlights on Monday, Oct 12, 2026: The benchmark indices ended sharply lower as FMCG, PSU Bank, and IT shares weighed. The Sensex fell 547.65 points or 0.76 per cent to 71,924.68 and the Nifty50 was down 157.10 points or 0.7 per cent at 22,363.35. Apollo Hospitals Enterprise, ITC, and Tech Mahindra were the top losers in the Nifty50 index. In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap rose 0.08 per cent and 1.42 per cent, respectively. Sector-wise, Nifty FMCG and Nifty PSU Bank declined the most, while Nifty Media and Nifty Chemical rose the most.

Stock Market LIVE Updates: After witnessing a sustainable bounce back on Friday, Nifty gave away most of the gains on Monday and closed the day lower by 157 points. A long bear candle was formed on the daily chart that has engulfed the long bull candle of Friday. Technically, this market action indicates lack of strength in the recent bounce back from the support and the market is now poised to revisit the recent swing low of 22,180 levels in the short term.

The underlying trend of Nifty continues to be weak. A decisive slide below the crucial area of 22,200 could trigger sharp weakness down to 21,700 levels in the near term. However, any bounce could find strong overhead resistance around 22,600 levels.
