South Coast Railway begins operations with Visakhapatnam as headquarters

South Coast Railway, India's 18th zone, is now running with Visakhapatnam as its main office. This big change, starting June 1, 2026, fulfills a demand from Andhra Pradesh that lasted over 40 years. Chief Minister Naidu called it a "historic milestone," saying a "decades-long dream is being realized."
