RBI moves closer to polymer banknotes

The RBI-owned BRBNMPL floated a global expression of interest on July 17 for manufacturing polymer banknotes. The central bank is currently examining the pros and cons of this shift. RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra said, “We will let you know as soon as a decision is made.” Trials will follow soon.
