Odisha has bagged the Wind India 2026 Award for "Leadership in Wind Energy De-risking" at Windergy India 2026, highlighting the State's efforts to create a conducive environment for wind energy investments.
Dr Satyapriya Rath, Managing Director of GRIDCO, received the award from Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi in the presence of industry representatives and other dignitaries.
The recognition comes as the State steps up efforts to tap its renewable energy potential, attract investments and accelerate its clean energy transition in line with the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy.
At the event, Odisha also hosted a dedicated session, "Odisha: India's Next Wind Destination", to showcase its wind energy prospects and identify measures to convert the available potential into viable projects.
Setting the context, Rath highlighted the opportunities for wind energy development in Odisha and the key requirements for attracting investors. Discussions centred on wind resource assessment, project viability, land and site readiness, policy certainty, grid connectivity, statutory approvals and smooth project execution.
The session brought together experts and industry leaders, including Dr Rajesh Katyal, Director General of the National Institute of Wind Energy; Dinesh Jagdale of Suzlon Energy Ltd; Devendra Pratap Singh, CEO of NLC India Renewables Ltd; Rengarajan Sadagopan, CEO of Axis Energy; Prof Subhransu Ranjan Samantaray of IIT Bhubaneswar; Rutupurna Mansingh of GRIDCO; and Parth Sarathi Pattanayak, Regional Director of iFOREST.
Discussions under the theme "From Potential to Investment" stressed the need to strengthen grid readiness, expedite land and statutory clearances, address turbine transportation and logistics challenges, and build investor confidence through effective partnerships.
The award and industry engagement underscore Odisha's efforts to develop an investment-friendly renewable energy ecosystem and emerge as a preferred destination for wind power projects.
