An IndiGo flight carrying 110 people landed safely in Lucknow on 07 October 2026 after severe weather damaged its nose. The airline said, "IndiGo flight 6E 625 encountered unfavourable weather, including a hailstorm while landing, resulting in damage to the radome." Officials grounded the aircraft for maintenance and a formal probe.

The aircraft was grounded after landing and will return to service only after technical inspections, maintenance and the required regulatory clearance.

An IndiGo flight carrying 104 passengers and six crew members landed safely in Lucknow after severe weather damaged the nose of the aircraft during its journey from Patna on Wednesday.

All 110 people aboard were safe after the aircraft reached Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, while the damaged plane was subsequently grounded for inspection and repairs.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated a probe into the incident. The aircraft will remain out of service until the required technical checks are completed and regulatory clearance is obtained.

Reports said the aircraft encountered severe weather at an altitude of about 17,000 feet, with a lightning strike among the possible causes being examined.

IndiGo, however, specifically cited a hailstorm while describing the conditions encountered by the flight.

"IndiGo flight 6E 625 operating from Patna to Lucknow on 07 October 2026 encountered unfavourable weather, including a hailstorm while landing, resulting in damage to the radome," an IndiGo spokesperson said.

"The aircraft landed safely, and all customers disembarked at their destination, i.e. Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, Lucknow," the spokesperson added.

The airline said the relevant authorities were informed immediately and that the aircraft would undergo necessary maintenance before returning to service after securing the required clearances.

The flight landed eight minutes ahead of its scheduled arrival time.

The incident follows another case involving an IndiGo aircraft at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport last month.

An IndiGo flight from Guwahati to Bengaluru suffered a tail strike during landing amid gusty weather. The airline had described the episode as an "abnormal runway contact", and the A321neo aircraft was grounded for checks after the incident.
