Edelweiss Alternatives and Japan’s JEXWAY announced a strategic arrangement on Thursday to upgrade India’s highway management. JEXWAY will invest in Citius TransNet and share technical expertise with Sekura India Management. This partnership aims to bring Japanese operational practices to India’s roads, as JEXWAY seeks growth in Asia’s expanding infrastructure market.
Edelweiss Alternatives and Japan Expressway International Co., Ltd. (JEXWAY) announced a strategic arrangement on Thursday to exchange technical expertise and invest jointly in India's transport infrastructure, marking a significant cross-border partnership in the sector.
The deal has two components. First, JEXWAY will make a capital investment in Citius TransNet Investment Trust, managed by EAAA TransInfra Managers Limited, an Edelweiss Alternatives entity.
Second, JEXWAY will enter a long-term technical services exchange with Sekura India Management Limited (SEKURA), Edelweiss Alternatives' asset operations and management platform.
The arrangement is aimed at bringing Japanese expressway operational practices to India's highway networks, while giving JEXWAY exposure to one of Asia's fastest-growing infrastructure markets.
JEXWAY has previously invested in public-private partnership road projects across Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Edelweiss Alternatives currently manages 4,586 lane kilometres of roads among other infrastructure assets, with fee-paying assets under management of approximately ₹48,623 crore. JEXWAY is backed by Japan's major expressway companies and focuses on transport infrastructure investment and management across Southeast Asia.
Executives from both firms framed the deal as a validation of India's infrastructure growth trajectory. JEXWAY President Suzuki Toru cited India's continued highway expansion as the driver behind the firm's investment in Citius TransNet, while Edelweiss officials highlighted the operational upgrades that Japanese expertise could bring to their existing road portfolio.
