Retail chain D-Mart's operator Avenue Supermarts Ltd reported an 8.5 percent year on year rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 742.98 crore for the September quarter, it announced on Saturday. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 684.85 crore in the same period last year. Meanwhile, revenue from operations was rose 17.8 percent to Rs 19,644 crore during the quarter under review, from Rs 16,676.30 crore in the year ago period. Consolidated EBITDA margin stood at 7.1 percent in Q2FY27, compared with 7.3 percent in the same period last year. The retailer opened 15 new stores during the quarter, taking the stotal store count to 518, while two years and older DMart stores grew by 9.5 percent during the September quarter as compared to 6.8 percent in the year ago period. "Our pricing proposition thus remains strong in an inflationary environment. Wage inflation at entry-level has led to a marginal increase in operating expense," said Anshul Asawa, managing director and chief executive officer at the company. Its total expenses increased 18.3 percent year-on-year to Rs 18,632.70 crore during the quarter, while total income, including other income, rose 17.7 percent to Rs 19,657.54 crore. Foods contributed 56.9 percent to the company's overall revenue in H1FY27, followed by general merchandise and apparel at 23.62 percent and non-foods fast-moving consumer goods at 19.4 percent. Vikram Dasu, whole-time director and CEO of Avenue E-Commerce, said the DMart Ready business was focused on improving operational efficiencies and strengthening the customer experience in the cities where it currently operates.
