The Assam Cabinet on Friday decided to charge only Rs 1 as land premium for the Lovlina Boxing Academy. This move aims to boost sports across the state. The government gifted over 3 bighas of land at Hudumpur village to support the athlete and help many young boxers get started.

The Assam Cabinet led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday decided to waive the settlement premium for land given to Lovlina Boxing Academy in a bid to boost the popularity of sports in the state. This was among the 76-point resolution of gratitude and appreciation of the State Government to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years of uninterrupted public service, first as Gujarat chief minister and then as India's prime minister. In appreciation of her achievements and services to Indian sports and her role in motivating aspiring sportsmen, it was decided to waive the settlement premium for the land already gifted to Lovlina by the state government. The Settlement has been accepted for a nominal consideration of Rs. 1 (Rupee One only) and the settlement premium in respect of the granted land has been remitted. The decision is meant to promote the expansion of boxing and other sports in Assam and construction of sports facilities. The athlete's feats on the global stage have made the state and the country immensely proud and have inspired a new generation to aim for sports greatness. The Cabinet also acknowledged the significant changes witnessed in a number of sectors like social development, industry, infrastructure, connectivity, peace and security and promotion and preservation of the region's rich cultural legacy. The Cabinet unanimously adopted the resolution expressing the state government's appreciation of the Prime Minister's unwavering dedication to the welfare of the people and the advancement of the country in recognition of his vision and leadership. It also subsumed the region into the national growth trajectory acknowledging the tremendous push toward the development of Assam and the Northeast.
