Does God play dice? Einstein, Heisenberg and the uncertainty principle

Werner Heisenberg formulated the uncertainty principle in 1929. It showed that we cannot simultaneously know the exact position and momentum of a particle. Einstein famously said, "God does not play dice," as he disliked this randomness. This rule matters for tiny atoms, but we ignore it for larger objects.
