Why India has restricted chlorpheniramine, phenylephrine medicines for children under 4

The Union Health Ministry this past week tightened controls on fixed-dose combinations containing chlorpheniramine maleate and phenylephrine hydrochloride. Manufacturers must now carry a clear warning that these medicines shall not be used in children below four years of age. The government said these combinations could pose risks to young children.
