UN discrimination watchdog flags extrajudicial killings, torture of Dalits in India

A United Nations watchdog said Tuesday that India must better protect tribal peoples and Dalits from extrajudicial killings and torture by law enforcement. The committee also urged the country to address hate crimes against Bengali-speaking Muslims. They called on India to investigate these allegations and bring those responsible to justice.
