What is the barren-land fallacy?
The barren-land fallacy wrongly assumes that land without trees is ecologically deficient. Many tree-planting drives ignore that grasslands and deserts are vital natural ecosystems. As professor Diana Davis said, "The assumption that the world's drylands are worthless, deforested, and overgrazed landscapes has led to programs that have systematically damaged environments."
