They spent years healing 67,000 acres, and now cheetahs are finally 'coming home' to the Karoo after a century.

In 1997, Sarah and Mark Tompkins started a project to restore South Africa’s Great Karoo. They combined 11 former livestock farms into a 67,000-acre reserve. By removing fences and invasive plants, they helped the land recover. This effort brought cheetahs back to the region in 2004 after 130 years.
