Researchers warn that climate change is destabilising forest ecosystems in the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. A 2024 study showed that erratic weather patterns shifted seasonal rhythms between 2000 and 2020. Bodi Surya Pratap Chandra Kishore said, "the seasonal rhythm of forests in the NBR had changed over the last two decades."
