Engineering gap major impediment to Bengal's plan to modernise agriculture

Bengal lacks a dedicated Agricultural Engineering Directorate, hindering efforts to modernise its farming sector. Professor Ranajit Kumar Biswas said, "Modern agriculture cannot be driven by agronomy and extension alone." The state needs specialist engineering expertise to improve farm machinery, irrigation, and storage, as current arrangements cause delays in technical planning.
