Ashok Lahiri bats for land to end Bengal industry deadlock, backs limited farm conversion

Niti Aayog vice-chairman Ashok Lahiri said on Saturday that Bengal needs more land to attract heavy industries. He suggested that converting 1 to 2 per cent of agricultural land could help boost the state’s economy. Small landholdings currently make it difficult for companies to get enough space for large projects.
