Trump administration unfreezes $600 million for Gavi for global vaccine effort

The Trump administration said on Wednesday it will release $600 million for Gavi to help the world's poorest countries buy vaccines. Washington previously withheld the money over safety concerns. The State Department said the decision followed Gavi’s commitment to work towards transitioning to newer, mercury-free vaccine alternatives for children.
