Man who stabbed Salman Rushdie in 2022 convicted of federal terrorism charges

A jury convicted Hadi Matar on Wednesday of federal terrorism charges for the 2022 stabbing of author Salman Rushdie. Matar, 28, already got a 25-year state prison sentence for the attack. Prosecutors said he targeted Rushdie over a decades-old fatwa. The federal conviction now carries a potential life sentence for him.
