Supreme Court takes on polygamy: Why personal law is now facing a 'legal reckoning'

The Supreme Court issued notice to the Centre on July 31 regarding a plea to ban Muslim polygamy. Activist Zakia Soman filed the petition, seeking uniform bigamy laws and mandatory marriage registration.
