No reason to doubt PM: Govt defends Election Commissioner appointment in SC

The government defended the appointment process for the Chief Election Commissioner in the Supreme Court. Officials said there is no reason to doubt the Prime Minister’s role in the selection committee. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said, "The office of the Prime Minister has a sanctity attached to it" during hearings.
