As parties rush to honour Guru Ravidas, revisiting his legacy of Dalit resistance in Punjab and beyond

The BJP launched a nationwide commemoration campaign for Sant Ravidas on Wednesday, July 29, at his birthplace near Varanasi. With his 650th birth anniversary approaching, political parties are highlighting his legacy. Professor Ronki Ram said, "The saint neither renounced his religion nor abandoned his hereditary occupation," marking his peaceful protest.
