Trust Prime Minister on Election Commission picks, government tells Supreme Court

The Centre told the Supreme Court on Thursday that the Prime Minister’s choice for election commissioners deserves trust. Solicitor-general Tushar Mehta said, "The office of the Prime Minister has a certain sanctity attached." The court reserved its verdict on whether to send the challenge against the 2023 selection law to a bench.
