Supreme Court refuses to ban Lord Jagannath film, defends artistic freedom

The Supreme Court refused to ban a Lord Jagannath film, defending artistic freedom. Justice Nagarathna said, “Artists can’t be taken to ransom like this.” The Odisha High Court stayed the July 17 release on July 15. The bench noted that creativity must continue, as many versions of mythology exist in India.
