Parliament clears Vande Mataram bill, to be sent to President for assent

The Lok Sabha passed the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026, to give the national song equal status to the national anthem. The bill, already cleared by the Rajya Sabha on July 29, now goes to President Droupadi Murmu. Opposition members said the bill is against federalism.
