CEC, ECs appointment process explained: Why the Supreme Court is questioning the 2023 law

The Supreme Court on Thursday questioned why the 2023 law excluded the Chief Justice of India from the committee that appoints election commissioners. The bench said, "Election Commissioner has to be an independent person. Should there not be a show of fairness?" The court reserved its order on the matter.
